Captivating Your Audience Through Video

The visual element in sales has always been of the utmost importance, of course. None of us want to purchase anything sight unseen.  We need to know what we are getting; we want to turn it over and inspect it, get a feel for the item and its quality, and we don’t mind at all if we get to take a test drive, as well.

As our society moves further and further along the virtual path and as the number of shoppers doing their buying online grows, those buyers are ever more removed from the items that are for sale. The challenge before the modern shopkeeper is to find a way to allow their customers to “test drive” merchandise. And judging by the trends in marketing and advertising today, and the response of the public to those trends, video advertising is answering that challenge.

In addition, consumers are busier than ever; the more they can achieve by all the automation of modern life, the more activities and responsibilities they seem to be taking on! A modern shopkeeper (or business owner) had better be able to make their pitch quickly and powerfully to the potential buyer, because the consumer of the 21st century is going to need to get as much information as possible RIGHT NOW.

A few facts:

  • Current studies are showing that four times as many consumers would rather watch a video about a product than read about it.
  • Four in five millennials consider video content when researching a purchase decision.
  • 70 percent of millennials are likely to watch a company video when shopping online.

Those numbers are pretty stunning, and the marketing community is sitting up and taking notice; video is everywhere.

Using video in sales is also a wonderful trend for retailers and virtual shopkeepers in this respect: online shopping can be done at any time of the day or night. In the old shopping mall days, once the shop was closed up for business and everyone went home, there could be no more sales. The employees had to go home and rest up for another day, and that was that. With video, a salesperson is available to assist customers and answer questions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! And best of all – they were already paid, once!
